Honoring Shamans of Our Times

This is the first in a new series, and different direction in which the clay-like earthy treatment I've been using for subjects, now goes beyond just the skin. This new approach was inspired by the volcanic rock carved statues of Zapatera island in Lake Nicaragua and those by the Chontales people. They depicted humans and animals believed to represent deities and high-status individuals.

They pose as in a ceremonial installation and I plan to depict people I know, maintaining their contemporary context through their garments while also honoring their profession and vocation. The first subject in this series is a Behavioral Therapist, which

inspired the title.
